Bagyong Sendong Hits Mindanao, Hundreds Have Died and Many Are Homeless!

Hundreds of people have died due to our corrupt government. There's no question about it. Some government officials are aware of illegal logging, rampant deforestation, mining activities, quarrying, bulldozing for new housing developments and so forth. It seems our political officials are not doing their jobs; neither are police authorities. They should be fired and fined or they should voluntarily resign! Someone must be held responsible for the deaths of hundreds of people. Survivors should be compensated for the loss of their loved ones, property and their suffering. We cannot allow this to happen again. We should act strongly and unanimously. Let's fight against corruption! Nagapuyo kita sa kultura nga pagpangorakot. Bisan relihiyoso nagahimo sa ingon. Kinahanglan banggaon nato ug pulpogon ang pader sa kangil-ad: pagkamaakuhon ug pagka dili matinud-anon! Right now!

This is the first time Mindanao has had so many casualties due to a typhoon. Never in my life have I seen such devastation. Many typhoons had hit Mindanao. I've experienced it myself, a number of times, in fact. This magnitude of destruction is incredible! Those responsible for the damage caused by Typhoon Washi (Bagyong Sendong) must be held accountable. They should be prosecuted - all of them! The political officials may have been aware of illegal logging, rampant deforestation, mining activities, quarrying, and bulldozing for new housing developments, but neglected the issues. Where is the law enforcement? Why is nothing being done? Somebody must be getting bribes. I wouldn't be surprised. I bet you, the higher the level, the bigger the bribe.

I'm wondering if we had some collapsed dams when these deadly flash floods occurred in Iligan City and Cagayan de Oro City. I strongly believe that the flash flooding that happened in Iligan City was due to environmental destruction. You never know, it may be some collapsed dams somewhere that caused this tragedy. If it had been, what were the workers doing that oversee the dam or dams? Texting? Resting and more resting, I guess that's what happened.

By the way, the survivors of Typhoon Washi (Bagyong Sendong) received some help from our very dear Philippine government. I heard each of the survivors only got a small bag containing one kilo of rice and a can of sardines.

FYI:
Please be aware that these photos belong to those who were brave enough to take these images. Many thanks to the photographers who took these fine photos... I wouldn't be able to put together a tribute to the victims of Bagyong Sendong without these powerful and deeply moving pictures.

To those who have inquired about the welfare of my family and friends: Thank you. As far as I know, my family and friends are all OK.
